Frozen Yogurt, as the second highest in sales for frozen desserts, claiming about 4% of sales, frozen yogurt is the conglomerate of an ice cream base with yogurt cultures. As a result, frozen yogurt reaps the flavor and texture benefits of both a sweet, cold ice cream and tangy, smooth yogurt! Also, because there is less fattiness than ice cream, frozen yogurt has less overrun (or added air), resulting in that distinguishing creamy texture. The added bonus of using live cultures is that they help promote a healthy digestive tract. The Spaceman Soft Serve Machines are perfect for creating custard, ice cream, AND frozen yogurt, making it an easy choice if you plan to serve any of these frozen desserts. When you can cut out the addition of extra pieces of equipment, you save money and space in your kitchen.
Flavor tags: Do you have an establishment where you make your ice cream from scratch? Use tags to brand your hand-crafted flavors. Tags are a great way to promote monthly feature flavors, or draw attention to nuts or other high-allergy products to protect the health of your customers.
At the end of the freezing cycle (25 to 30 minutes, depending upon the quantity of the recipe), the ice cream will be frozen, but not as firm as you would like. You transfer the ice cream to an airtight container and put it in your refrigerator's freezer compartment for two to three hours. The unit I have used most is the single-bowl Model CIM-20 Cuisinart, which is pictured on this page. It makes up to one and one-half quarts of ice cream, sorbet or frozen yogurt, and I recommend it. It is not terribly noisy, but remember that it will be on continuously for up to a half hour, so if noise bothers you, take it in a room where you can shut the door and let it do its thing without getting on your nerves. If you planned on listening to music or watching television while it runs, I'd definitely put it in a different room.
Earn extra money throughout the year by selling frozen yogurt at public and private events. You can become a vendor at local fairs, flea markets, farmers markets or festivals, or sell it at children's parties and other events. Network with event planners, event centers and members of play groups in your town to gain such clients.
